Fieldwork campaign in 2005

A team of DMT supported extends the already existing geologic maps and project partners of BGR collect coal samples for later laboratory analysis.
First conlusions of this years mapping and investigation in the field: the fires are expanding rapidly and new fires have ignited. Currently there are at least 20 fires burning in the Wuda syncline. A very strong dynamic shows fire #14 in the SE of the syncline as well as the new fire NW of fire #2. Also the larges fire of all - fire #8 - is extending in the northwestern part, while the burning intensity slowly seems to decrease in the southern part.
The field campaign in general was a full success. Support with the organizational details from the Chinese side was excellent. The Sino-German network now benefits from nearly three years of working together and strenghtening bi-national ties..
